Proverbs of a 37 yr old man

A burnt tongue. Nothing is more annoying than a burnt tongue. It causes you to lose your taste for awhile and its sharp pain just gets in the way as you swallow your pride. You probably rushed that hot drink or hot soup because of your lack of patience. The best remedy is cool water for a few minutes or some ice chips to soothe the pain. You know who could use some of that right now, is the rich man in Hades. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. “The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames. Son, Abraham said, 'remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’ I can't imagine nor do I want to, the intense heat of judgment when fallen into the Hands of the Living God. But you can actually feel it now in the most smallest of places, your tongue. The tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness that corrupts your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. Though there is this great chasm separating us, the fires of hell can be unleashed through the untamed tongue. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Worthless people plan trouble. Even their words burn like a flaming fire. Next time you burn your tongue, let it be a quick reminder that God In Christ has provided cool living water to quench the thirsty soul. If this Living Water that has sprung abundantly all over the earth is rejected, then there is no remedy for the agony of the burnt tongue in hell.
