Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Living Word of God speak to me. I do not just want to know the logos of your word, but also the rhema of your word. Jesus has made us adequate to be servants of a new covenant not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away. Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever! But the Law no longer rules over us. We are like dead people, and it cannot have any power over us. Now we can serve God in a new way by obeying his Spirit, and not in the old way by obeying the written Law. Sin must not be your master; for you do not live under law but under God's grace. LORD Jesus, you are the Living WORD and I must listen to Holy Spirit in scripture. Through close relationship with you I can receive the spirit and life that comes from the Living WORD. The letter of the law births desire and then sin in me. My flesh is corrupted nature and I need the Spirit of Christ living in me constantly. Like living waters constantly flowing within me so that I can be a planting of the LORD. A branch continued to the tree, the Cross of Christ. I can bear my cross because you Jesus bore sins of the whole world. And even now, you are making my burdens light giving me the grace to bear my cross. I can do nothing apart from the Living WORD in me. If I stay stuck in the logos of the word I am like a house built without wisdom. Without understanding and established with an unstable cornerstone. Rooms with self righteous garbage instead of being filled with every precious promise and beautiful treasure. The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. We need more and more knowledge of Christ to grow stronger and stronger in the spirit. Without Jesus as our wisdom, though we have the logos of the word which is solid ground, your spiritual house is built askew not able to withstand the wild winds of doctrine that blow on unstable hearts. The logos and rhema meet in Christ. Peace and truth come together to build a stronger spiritual house based on the cornerstone of Christ.
