Oh To Be Wise Meditations
This is God's country. I may own my own land and property, my own license and deed. But go ahead and pick up that dirt, that soil, that foundation below it. That's God's country. It's blood, sweat and tears mixed across America, the land of the free and home of the brave. This land is God's land, a foundation built upon faith and righteousness. No matter what you do to the truth, even if its crushed down to the earth. It will rise up again, for this country was built upon the belief in God and not man. For He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Every animal of the forest is his. He knows every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are his. If the LORD were hungry, He would not tell us, for all the world is his and everything in it. Does He eat the meat of bulls? Does He drink the blood of goats? Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on Him when you are in trouble, and He will rescue you, and you will give Him glory. But God says to the wicked: “Why bother reciting my decrees and pretending to obey my covenant?
For you refuse my discipline and treat my words like trash. When you see thieves, you approve of them, and you spend your time with adulterers. Your mouth is filled with wickedness, and your tongue is full of lies. You sit around and slander your brother, your own mother’s son. While you did all this, I remained silent, and you thought I didn’t care. But now I will rebuke you, listing all my charges against you. Repent, all of you who forget me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you. But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. The LORD looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you. But the LORD watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone. This is God's country. You better believe it.
