Oh To Be Wise Meditations
A woman's family is held together by her wisdom, but it can be destroyed by her foolishness. Yes, Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness. A house is not a home, what makes a godly home is the way a father and mother care for it. Do they build it up not only by the physical care but the spiritual care. Houses need upkeep and things must be maintained to keep a house standing strong. In the same way if sin is overrunning a home no matter the physical upkeep it will fall down to the ground spiritually speaking. Heck, in uncontrolled anger homes can be destroyed physically as well. It’s better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home. A foolish child is a calamity to a father; a quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping. Use wisdom and understanding to establish your home; through knowledge and discretion its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. How many more houses need to fall apart because they did not become a godly home. Build your foundation with trust and loyalty. Your walls with faith and love. Your roof with joy and peace so that sin does not get into your house like mold and ruin what God has built. Here are some ways that you can tear down your home. Work on keeping these deadly molds from taken over your godly home. Laziness. Laziness leads to a sagging roof, idleness leads to a leaky house. Unfaithfulness. A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones. Quarreling. It is better to live alone in the desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining wife. Anger. “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the the devil a foothold. Disrespect. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Stubbornness. For I know how stubborn and obstinate you are. Your necks are as unbending as iron. Your heads are as hard as bronze. Control. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. Lying. The godly hate lies; the wicked cause shame and disgrace. Nagging. A quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping on a rainy day. Stopping her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or trying to hold something with greased hands.
