Oh To Be Wise Meditations
The LORD took Moses on a high mountain and showed him the promised land for Israel. Starting in Numbers 27:12:
One day the LORD said to Moses, “Climb one of the mountains east of the river,b and look out over the land I have given the people of Israel. 13After you have seen it, you will die like your brother, Aaron, 14for you both rebelled against my instructions in the wilderness of Zin. When the people of Israel rebelled, you failed to demonstrate my holiness to them at the waters.” (These are the waters of Meribah at Kadeshc in the wilderness of Zin.)
15Then Moses said to the LORD, 16“O LORD, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. 17Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so the community of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
Amazing how Moses was not going to see the people of Israel through the promise land. He had suffered in the wilderness of Zin with them. But another great leader Joshua would lead The Israelites to the promise land. It makes me think the scene of the Enemy taking Jesus to a high place showing Him the Kingdom of the world. Matt 4:8 starts Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Amen
Jesus was offered the promised land without the sacrifice of the Cross. But He kept the plan of Salvation set before the foundations of the world. He chose the Cross than the way of rebellion and disobedience Israel and Moses once chose. Jesus our Joshua is risen and he is our Leader to the promise of the New Jerusalem. A place of eternal life filled with milk and honey. A city of God for his redeemed people to inherit the Earth. I will follow the LION, the LAMB where ever He goes.
