Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Don't be hateful and insult people just because they are hateful and insult you. Instead, treat everyone with kindness. You are God's chosen ones, and he will bless you. The Scriptures say, "Do you really love life? Do you want to be happy? Then stop saying cruel things and quit telling lies. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless. As little children we tended always to focus on what is fair. As we mature and learn discipline we start to love selflessly and not demand fairness. This love comes from Jesus as he teaches us how to love through the power of Holy Spirit. Oh LORD give me the grace to forgive and to return offense with love and kindness. To be slow with anger and quick to forgive. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. When they hurled their insults at Jesus, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. We must follow Christs example.
