Oh To Be Wise Meditations
The narrow way. This life we live must stayed upon the narrow way. Even the gate is narrow and exclusive to Christ. The world has a wide gate and a broad road. So many ways to be enlightened and to know both good and evil. I imagine as Jesus walked his way to the Cross it was a narrow way. People spat him on and insulted him. Others mourned for him and pleaded for mercy for him. The road to the Cross was much suffering and hardship. But to Jesus Scripture says it was the joy set before him to endure such a horrific death. Jesus calls to the narrow way and carry our Cross. So many walked by the on the road to the Cross of Jesus. Many came and went and saw this Jesus suspended between heaven and earth. Simon the Cyrene is the one whom the roman officials asked to carry the Cross for Jesus. Are we not asked as well to the carry the Cross of Christ. To bear his name before a world that hates him. The crowds will always avoid the narrow way that can't all fit there, they gather broadly on their way to destruction. They have made the gate so broad that they have watered down the Gospel. That Jesus was just another man set to die on the Cross and would rather take the broad paths of religion and personal pursuits. Than to know a God so personal and so loving, that He would give his life for you. The narrow way, it is few who find it. Very sobering thought. Those who call themselves Christian will not find it because they deny the power of God by the way they live. And many in this world reject the knowledge of Christ for the traditions of men. But to those who find it both Jew and Gentile find eternal life. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. So come all you faithful at heart. Jesus the true gate wants to receive you into his Kingdom. Listen! The gatekeeper opens the gate and the sheep listen for his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” LORD, I pray for everyone in this world to hear your voice and the broad road and come to your precious narrow road.
