One flesh with Christ. Food is meant for our bodies, and our bodies are meant for food. But I tell you that God will destroy them both. We are not supposed to do indecent things with our bodies. We are to use them for the Lord who is in charge of our bodies. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you realize that your bodies are part of the body of Christ? Is it right for someone to join part of the body of Christ to a prostitute? No, if a person joins themselves to a prostitute, they become one body. For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.” But anyone who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit with him. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory. It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being;” the last Adam a life-giving spirit. For this reason a believer leaves the world, the flesh, and the devil behind and unites with Christ. The two become one flesh, so they are no longer are two, but one flesh one Spirit, one body, and one baptism. Therefore what God has join together through power invested in the Gospel, let no one separate. Yes, nothing can separate you from the Love of God found in Christ Jesus. We are truly one flesh one spirit, Bone of his bones, and flesh of his flesh. One flesh with Christ.
