The Devourer. Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. I see him as a prowling lion in our world looking to devour hearts and minds away from Christ. When he roars it stirs up evil desires within the sinful flesh of humanity. Enticing us as he bites deep into our spirit leaving behind our blood guilt on his judging teeth. He is out for blood and will tempt us until we are truly dead in our sins. Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is the wicked devourer himself over helpless sinful people. We must hear more louder the roar of the lion of Judah as Jesus gives us new holy desires that causes us to flourish. Put your trust in him and he will rebuke the devourer for you, so that he will not destroy the peaceable fruit of righteousness growing in you, nor will you fail to produce rich spiritual fruit. The enemy of our souls declares, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’ But say to the LORD, you have given me your shield of victory; your help has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping. You chase my enemies and destroy them; you do not stop until they are conquered. You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued the enemy of my soul under my feet. Yes, you placed my foot on top your foot securely on the enemies neck! You have destroyed all that was against me and placed me in a position of honor and humility. Jesus you have devoured the devourer.
