Proverbs of a 38 yr old man
Consider yourself fortunate if God All-Powerful chooses to correct you. Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. Although God is mighty, he cares about everyone and makes fair decisions. He does not let the wicked live but gives justice to the afflicted. Yes, He never takes his eyes off the righteous, but he sets them on thrones with kings and exalts them forever. If they are bound in chains and caught up in a web of trouble, he shows them the reason. He shows them their sins of pride. He gets their attention and commands that they turn from evil. If they obey God and serve him, they live out their lives in peace and prosperity. But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword and die without knowledge. Godless people are too angry to ask God for help when he punishes them. So they die young in shameful disgrace. Hear this, God rescues the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ears in oppression. He teaches people through suffering and uses distress to open their eyes. Look, God is all-powerful. Who is a teacher like him? So know in your heart that just as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you. Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.
