Proverbs of a 39 yr old man
LORD of my thoughts. Thoughts are coming in and out of my mind constantly. Thoughts of what is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Thoughts of what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. But also wicked thoughts come and go and try to linger and latch on one of my brain waves. Thoughts of pride, anger, jealousy, lust, laziness, and fear. We are then tempted by our own desires that drag us off and trap us. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death in me. What a miserable person I am. If people saw the thoughts that go through my head they would be shocked and disappointed. Who will rescue me from this body that is doomed to die? Thank God, Jesus Christ will rescue me. He is the answer! So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. I need you Jesus to be LORD of my thoughts. I need Holy Spirit to keep me connected to your precious mind! What are you thinking right now LORD? Give me a mind and heart that follows after you daily. I am a drifter and a dreamer, my mind gets entangled with the cares of this world and the lusts of the flesh. I hear you say to me Jesus: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let me transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know my will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Listen, we must destroy every proud obstacle that keeps us from knowing God. And we must capture every rebellious thought and learn in submission to obey Christ. Look, I see weeds growing in the fruitful thoughts you are growing in your heart and life. Pull out those weeds around them and don't leave them there to grow thorns and thistles. The LORD has a holy fire he wants us to throw these wicked thoughts and desires into. Listen to Jesus as He is LORD of your thoughts. He will keep your mind cultivated and continually transformed. He loves to get along side you and clean out those weeds you have been fixated on. Time to pull it out and enjoy the freedom of a pure heart in Christ.
