Proverbs of a 39 yr old man

A gift is given but fruit has to be cultivated. God has given to us many gifts and talents. The greatest gift of all is our salvation, and even that is a gift. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. Amen. Think about this: The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call. But what the LORD does ask for is fruit. Producing fruit in keeping with repentance and bearing fruit for the Kingdom. In the natural world, fruit is the result of a healthy plant producing what it was designed to produce. In the Bible, the word fruit is often used to describe a person’s outward actions that result from the condition of the heart. Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.

God has given us the gift of his Gospel, are we daily growing and staying rooted in Christ? Jesus said that "every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. But he also cuts off every branch of that doesn’t produce fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. There is no excuse to not put the hand to the plow and start cultivating the Holy Spirit in our lives. The gift of eternal life has been given to us and we are cultivate it by remaining in relationship with Jesus. Listen to Jesus words as I close starting in John 15:8: If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
