Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
If you trust yourself, then you are a proud fool. If you are wise in God’s ways, then you will be safe. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’ Do not trust yourself! Trust God! You will become wise if you trust God. And you will be safe, because God will protect you. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the faithless is difficult. Wise people think before they act; fools don’t and even brag about their foolishness. This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
