Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
Change of seasons series. Spring has come. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. The fig trees are forming young fruit, and the fragrant grapevines are blossoming. For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Spring season signals that winter is passing and harvest and growth is coming. What joy fills the believer's heart when sprouts begin to grow in people's lives. It's a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be. You start to see things changing for the good and things working together. Faithfulness sprouts from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. In this season God loves to make all things new and fresh. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring. Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field. This is the season of refreshing rains strengthen you from the cold of night and darkness of the soul.
Fear not, you beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness are green; the tree bears its fruit; the fig tree and vine give their full yield. “Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before. Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. Summer is near, full harvest is here!
