Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
In the towns where Jesus had worked most of his miracles, the people refused to turn to God. So, Jesus was upset with them and said: You people of Chorazin are in for trouble! You people of Bethsaida are in for trouble too! If the miracles that took place here had happened in Tyre and Sidon, the people there would have turned to God long ago. They would have dressed in sackcloth and put ashes on their heads. I tell you on the day of judgment the people of Tyre and Sidon will get off easier than you will. People of Capernaum, do you think you will be honored in heaven? You will go down to hell! If the miracles that took place in your town had happened in Sodom, it would still be standing. Wow! Pause here. Meditate this for moment: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved. Amen. Listen to the judgment on Sodom starting in Ezekiel 16:48 As surely as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, Sodom and her daughters were never as wicked as you and your daughters. Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. Yes, their pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door. She was proud and committed detestable sins, so I wiped her out, as you have seen. The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah was great. Because their sin was so grievous, The LORD Himself visited the city in judgment. For the LORD looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. We should also be warned by what happened to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the nearby towns. Their people became immoral and committed all sorts of sexual sins. Then God made an example of them and punished them with eternal fire. If you remember what I said at the start of this, if Sodom would have had the miracles that Jesus did in those cities, they would have repented! Wow! This makes me think about story of Jonah preaching to Nineveh: the men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is he. For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. Amen. If Sodom who was so wicked that The LORD Himself came down to see. And later Jesus says that if they would have seen the miracles, He was doing they would have repented. How much more should we knowing Jesus is risen and seated at the Right Hand live a life worthy of repentance. How shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose. But first the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by this generation. “When the Son of Man returns, “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
