Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man

"The law of God is" series. The law of God is Holy. Yes, the commandments of God are holy and righteous and good. These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Amen. We are crossing over from this life to the next for eternity. The law of God is holy and set apart for us to follow all the days of our lives. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Now we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God. Amen. I have discovered this principle of life: that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. So, you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. I must always remember at all times that the law is holy and that I need God's grace in Christ to live by every holy word that comes from the mouth of God.
