Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

Christ obeyed God even as far as death. Death on a cross was a cruel punishment for slaves and criminals. Jews believed that anyone who died on a cross was beyond God’s grace. Deuteronomy 21:22-23 says If someone has committed a crime worthy of death and is executed and hung on a tree, the body must not remain hanging from the tree overnight. You must bury the body that same day, for anyone who is hung is cursed in the sight of God. In this way, you will prevent the defilement of the land the LORD your God is giving you as your special possession. Amen. Therefore it was hard for Jews to believe that Christ’s death on the cross was on behalf of all people. But praise God, Jesus has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Amen. Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Amen. Christ obeyed God even as far as death on a Cross. We are people of flesh and blood. This is why Jesus became one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death. But he also died to rescue all of us who live each day in fear of dying. Those who love their lives will destroy them, and those who hate their lives in this world will guard them for everlasting life. Hear Jesus words in closing in Matt. 10:39, If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. Give your life to Jesus today and let Him show how to daily live for Him and carry your Cross. He will never leave you or forsake you, He will help you carry.
