Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
If I was to be truly transformed how much of me would be left? Jesus died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. We have this identity in this world that we cling to and it makes us who we are. The culture and experience we were raised in is so pleasing to our flesh. We take pride in these things and wear it on our sleeves. We need to stop evaluating ourselves and others from this human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! A new heart and a new spirit within you; Jesus removes your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Even in heaven God is going to give us new names. An identity between us and Christ that is separate from the sharpening of the world we experienced. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. We are at a point in society where we are embracing sin rather than overcoming it. People aren't really loving themselves they are only pleasing themselves. They have accepted sin in their lives and now practice it openly and defiantly before a Holy God in Heaven. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them. God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is. Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. You can tell God's children from the devil's children, because those who belong to the devil refuse to do right or to love each other. To answer the question from the beginning, if we are to truly be transformed by the Spirit of Christ there would be nothing left. Only who you truly were created to be in Christ Jesus our LORD.
