Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

All lust must be controlled at the heart. If we are trying to stop a raging wild fire within with a wet rag of self works you have lost the fight for purity already. The lust for power, pride, and sensual desires needs to be dealt with in the heart first, your flesh is no match. In fact, once sin is birthed from desire your flesh is a fire starter that lights a fire in you that consumes you. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. God told Cain in Gen. 4:6-7 that sin is crouching at your door, it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. It crouches right at the door of our hearts waiting for us to light that fire of destruction into our lives. This is why we must be faithful in the little things. Jesus like He did for Peter when He knew he would betray him. He told him that he had prayed for him and that when repents he should go and strengthen his brothers. In the same way, Jesus is constantly interceding for us. Growing and renewing us daily through the power of Holy Spirit working in our lives. Gaining new strength every day in the secret place with him. Doing the little things to keep those passions and desires nailed on the Cross. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. The commandment says do not covet. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife. You must not covet your neighbor’s house or land, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor. The inner person is where sin originates. Covetousness is the forerunner of all manner of sin, among them theft, burglary, and embezzlement. At its root, coveting is the result of envy, a sin which, once it takes root in the heart, leads to worse sins. The story in the Bible of Samson's uncontrolled heart is a great example of how lust becomes a wild fire you cannot control. Jesus has given us His Presence in our hearts and minds to control all lusts that want to birth in us. But we must be faithful in the little things. Taking on the yoke of Christ of which his burden is light. Praying and reading the word and staying in fellowship so that you can confess sin and be healed. Unconfessed sin is a fire waiting to be ignited by ignorance and want. Daily walking in the light in the light as He is in the light. You will start to see the great fires of lusts in you subside and be put out by the fresh waters of grace the Spirit of Christ pours out. That is the blessing of knowing Jesus as LORD that he can put out any fiery lust and keep them at bay because of his living water running through us daily. You will start to have new passions with a holy fire that pleases God. A holy temple burning real fire for life and godliness. Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
