Proverbs of a 41 yr old man
God wants to take your childlike faith and turn you into a man or woman of God. Like newborn babies, we crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it we may grow up into our salvation. Tasting and seeing that the LORD is good by over victory we have in our lives. But we start to desire the meat of the Word. You always have that childlike faith as you learn to move and live and have your being in Christ. When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Amen. Like young David taking care of his father’s sheep and goats. When a lion or a bear came to steal a lamb from the flock, he when after it with a club to rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turned on him, he would catch it by the jaw and club it to death. Come on! It was that training with God as a youth that gave him the muster to face Goliath the giant. He brought his childlike faith of a sling, stick, and stones to bring victory for Israel. As young David became King David, the very armour He refused when he was young, was now wearing as King. He became a fierce warrior and part of the Mighty men God raise up with special talents and victories. But it all started with a childlike faith, a sling, stick, and stones. As the Body of Christ we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Amen. God wants to take your childlike faith and turn you into a man or woman of God. He wants to replace your sling, stick, and stones for the full armour of God. The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Work hard at relationship with Christ. Yes, work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
