Proverbs of a 41 yr old man.
Angry love. Part 3 Trilogy is fire! When I think of angry love. I think of Jesus tasting the sour wine on the Cross. A remedy that could not soothe the righteous indignation of Christ. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. They said He saved others but could not save Himself. Jesus came to a world He created and they knew Him not. Anger is bitter to the taste. But love covers a multitude of sins. That is why Jesus laid his life down for us because anger cannot produce the righteousness of God. Only love could bring justice and mercy. Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed! Oh the LORD is jealous for the hearts of humanity. Can you hear His Heart in this: When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matt. 9:36) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. (Matt. 23:37) Amen. If we love what God loves, we will be angry at what angers God. See, most of our anger springs up from us loving ourselves most, not loving God. When someone makes fun of us, restricts our freedom, tells us what to do, makes us feel dumb, we become upset because what we really love most is ourselves. Biblical anger both comes from a different source and looks very different. Biblical anger comes from loving what God loves. And we learn what God loves by spending time in His Word. We have been given the mind of Christ so that we can truly be a person after God's own heart. It's crazy to every think of a Holy God angry. But it's a holy passion that comes from a God who never rests. Though the LORD rested from His labor on the Sabbath day he does not sleep or rest like we do. His passion is relentless. My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. Jesus ever lives to intercede unto the uttermost. Think about the strong groanings of Holy Spirit moving within us when we don't know what to pray for but Holy Spirit does. It's the Spirit of Christ living in us that we live from, this all consuming passionate God! God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. So God gets angry at the wickedness in people, and He opposes that wickedness in an effort to turn them from evil, that they may find true life and freedom in Him. Even in His anger, God’s motivation is love for people; to restore the relationship that sin destroyed. In the New Testament, Jesus got angry with the religious teachers and leaders of that day for using religion for their own gain and keeping people in bondage. He did not mince His words and was angry. This is his holy obsession: He is wanting no one to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. It's not anger that brings people to God but His kindness. God is a good Father and He disciplines as He sees fit to save each and ever soul. Of course many chose there own way and get lost in this journey of life. But he has such holy passion that if He had a 100 sheep and one went missing. He would safely leave the 99 and with all consuming passion go and try find His lost child in this broken and lost world. Every person matters and it's a holy passion Jesus wants us to live with for others. It should keep you up at night the holy passion of souls that Christ has! Let me close with the words a song that you might know: You are not hidden There's never been a moment You were forgotten You are not hopeless Though you have been broken Your innocence stolen I hear you whisper underneath your breath I hear your SOS, your SOS I will send out an army To find you in the middle of the darkest night, it's true I will rescue you There is no distance That cannot be covered Over and over You're not defenseless I'll be your shelter I'll be your armor.
