Proverbs of a 41 yr old man

The cost of Follow me. Jesus, you say follow me. But where are we going? How do I follow you in a world that I can't see you or physically follow you. I hear you say to me: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”Amen. In Luke 9:57-58 (As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.”) We are called to come along side Jesus and follow Him. To lay down our lives and submit ourselves to the High Calling of Christ. To die to this world and live for Him. In daily submission to the Spirit of Christ working and renewing our hearts and minds. I ask the question again, how does it look in this world to follow Him where we can't see Jesus or physically follow Him? We know He is alive and well and He lives in us. There is a cost of Follow me that we are called to. More than just having faith but also taking action. Having works and deeds that show in a way you are following Jesus. Let me explain with the ending story of the demon possessed man healed at the Gardenes. Starting in Luke 8:38 Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. Amen. This is what it looks like to follow Jesus in a world where we cannot see Him or physically follow. We are called to go and tell what great things Jesus has done for us. To go feed the hungry and thirsty. To invite the stranger, to clothe the naked, to visit the sick and in prison. Jesus said, I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me. To follow Jesus is a life of service and sacrifice. To let go of the pleasures of this life and suffer along the calling of Christ. Let me close with the words of Peter: Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said.“Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then. Amen. The reward of Christ far outweighs His high call of follow me.
