Proverbs of a 41 yr old man
You know what discipline looks like? God takes a man like Jacob who is confident and secure only in himself. A liar that manipulates others to get ahead. God disciplines him by dislocating his hip as a blessing and covering of support. We are no different, confident in ourselves but still needing help and mercy. God humbles us and breaks our strong-willed Spirit as we cry out, I need you Jesus! Imagine if you don't have God disciplining you. All the trappings of the world, conforming you to its image. Falling into pitfalls and bondage with no one to help. Almost like a messenger from the Satan that the Apostle Paul talks about torturing us in our folly and pride. But when God is in your life, He sees how money is pulling you into greed and he disciplines you. Jesus starts to prune you. He sees when your heart is in lust and out of control and disciplines you. He cuts your heart before your flesh give births to sin. God disciplines those he loves so that you can partake in his holiness. Putting on your new nature and being renewed as we learn to know our Creator and become more like him. Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world. As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? I will be his Father, and he will be My son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. Blessed is the man You discipline, O LORD, and teach from Your law. Amen. What an amazing work of God in Christ to see a person transformed by the love and discipline of God. Turning a lost slave of this world into a found child of God.
