Proverbs of a 41 yr old man
I don't want the blessing without the promise. I don't want to profit the flesh if sorrow comes with it. God has given you the seed of his promise, where will you plant it and water it? The flesh profits nothing, better to plant them in God's will and watch his blessing grow with no sorrow. This is a good reminder that results are not enough to justify what we do before God. It’s not right to say, “Well, at least we got what we wanted. It must have been God’s will.” The flesh profits nothing but it can produce something. Doing things in the flesh may get results, and we may be sorry we got them. Whatever a man or woman attempts to do without God will be a miserable failure or an even more miserable success. You have heard the expression sow there wild oats. To "sow one's wild oats" means to engage in a period of youthful, often irresponsible, and sometimes promiscuous behavior, typically before settling down and taking on adult responsibilities. Many of us should have sown seed in the promises of God and wait for God's blessing. But we were impatient and now have reaped the whirlwind. Hosea 8:7 says “They have planted the wind and will harvest the whirlwind. The stalks of grain wither and produce nothing to eat. And even if there is any grain, foreigners will eat it. Impatience, a common human frailty, is frequently addressed in the Bible, where it is often portrayed as a lack of trust in God's timing and wisdom. The consequences of impatience can be seen throughout Scripture, affecting individuals, families, and nations.
Praise God, Jesus can still work all things together for your good. Be still and let Him do a work in you today. If He can change your thinking He can change your life and give you that blessing with no sorrow you so desperately want and need. The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
